About a year ago when I was using Windows, I had an email program that would flash num, scroll, caps lock keys for a few seconds whenever new mail arrived. Thats a little too corney for me now, but I was wondering if there were any Linux apps that would allow you to set the lights to flash for say.. Internet activity or apon certain defined events. I know its got to be possible since I saw it with the other email prog in Windows, just a matter of does it exist. I barley need to look at the lights to tell whats enabled mostly scroll lock.

hello,
xset is what is used to control the keyboard keys under linux, it works ...okay, not real simple but not too hard either.

now, i don't know about anything for an alarm type thing, neat idea though.

I know I saw something like this at Freshmeat. Can't remember what it was called, but you may be able to find it if you go there and do a search for "LED" or some such phrase.
