genkernel isn't working.

I'm installing gentoo linux. And I'm ready to build the kernel using:
genkernel

but it doesn't build it. It just gives me a list of all the different opitions. But I can't select any. My manul said I could do:
genkernel --config to make small modifications before it builds the kernel. But that just gave me the same thing.
Anyone know why this is happening?

Never worked for me... make oldconfig is your friend. Also, you can cat /proc/config while running the boot cd and use that as a starting point.
