I am looking to get a TV card. My only requirements is that it be PCI and have onboard encoding. I was looking at the Hauppage WinTV PVR 350 and the 401. As far as I can tell, these are almost identical cards, but about a $100 difference in price.

So my questions are this:

1)What's the difference between these two?
2)What card is best to get, either these two or others?

I don't own either of these, but recently was researching the purchase of a TV card and was considering the 350. The 350 has onboard encoding and decoding i believe, whereas the 401 does not. Hope that answers your question.

Interesting. I should want to get the 350 then I suppose. How well does this work with linux? Do all of it's features work?

Most of my research came from mysettopbox.tv which is the home page for KnoppMyth. and i got a lot of other info from www.mythtv.org.
