Hey Guys !
After helping me out in the past i thought you could help me again . I installed yesterday night mandrake 7.2 via ftp and after i configured it and restartet it everything works fine but then it spits out something like
"Warning : Couldnt initalize first console " or so . And then it stops . Unfortunatly i didnt make a bootdisk so i dont know if that will bring me to a console . But even if - what should i do then ?
David

With a different topic name? ;)
Since you did a ftp install, could you be missing some packages?

Can you download a bootdisk image from Mandrake?

I have made a bootdisk here on my work with the mandrake cd . So i prolly can start the thing up .
And as you say it now - i went up in the night to look how the install did go and i had to skip one package coz it couldnt be downloaded or so .
Silly me didnt see coz i could hardly open my eyes at 3 in the morning . So can it be that this skipped package was responsible for the console ? That sucks !
So how can i resolve that ? I would install it again via ftp but i dont have the time the next days - i thought it is maybe jus something in a config file . ( ok thats what i have hoped . lol )

It could be something in your /etc/inittab as the consoles are defined there. Could be the devices were not created in /dev
Can you just download and install the one missing package instead of starting over again. No experience myself with a ftp install.

That would be good if i would remember the name . i was kinda sleep as that happened - so i dont remember the name of this package anymore .
Iam actually wonderin if i shouldnt jus install RedHat again . That worked at least pretty good .
