Alright, I have the need to use Microsoft powerpoint to present a project to my class on Monday. However...since I obviously don't use windows, are there any programs on SuSE linux that can also make a powerpoint presentation (other than Impress)?

i find openoffice's powerpoint to be really poor (but no way is it their fault, they do a great job trying to crack M$ formats)

i basicly just use powerpoint on my dads PC or a friends PC.

but if you find anything let me know...

OpenOffice.org - the PowerPoint clone of that is pretty close to the real thing.

The one in OpenOffice.Org is Impress...and it takes too much memory for my comp to run. It takes at least 8 minutes for it just to load up. ANY other suggestions?

Just need to search around a bit.

Freshmeat.net search results for 'powerpoint' (http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=powerpoint&section=projects&x=0&y=0). There are a couple you can try.

I have had no problems with openoffice, but I've only used the writer and calc. I don't see speed problems but I have a fairly new machine and 512 MB of memory. I've also heard that 1.1 is much faster.

If you're not happy with impress, spend a few bucks on crossover office (http://www.codeweavers.com/). I find it very useful because it allows me to run Quicken. You could load MS Office XP and 2000.
