Maybe Java isn't properly configured? Just taking a wild guess. On my system I just made the symlink and it works fine.

You could try the Java related JL Help Files.

http://justlinux.com/nhf/Programming

At least verify everything is setup according to those Help Files.

I have no idea what really needs to be configured. You install the Java package and if you want the Java plugin for a browser, you just create the symlink.

Can you post the command you used to create the symlink and the results in the browser plugin directory?

I just right clicked and said "make link" in gnome then got rid of the "link to" prefix and put it in the Mozilla firebird plugins directery.
