I have a set of bootable cd's that I am using to install red hat linux version 7.

Strange things happen.

I want to install it on a
PI 233mmx
32 megs ram
older pci trident video card
4 gig hdd and 52x cd rom

When I boot the installation off of the CD, the prompt comes up and I hit enter to go into the graphical installation mode.
The problem is, it won't. I can only install in the old text mode.

I put the same exact CD in my newer Celeron 533 amptron book PC and it boots into graphical installation mode.

Thanks guys!

Apparently it happens sometimes due to the hardware detected. As long as you got it installed.

when the installation gets to the xconfigurator, none of the settings work properly. I allways have to quit, and, I can never get the xwindow system config'ed properly.

could this be a bug with version 7,
or a compatibility issue?
Thanks!

Most likely it's you video card.

Check the hardware compatability list for RH7 and at www.xfree86.org (http://www.xfree86.org)

Thank you so much. It indeed was the video card. I took out the cheepo Jaton and threw a crud cirrus logic one in.

Thanks!
