Hello, I am a linux newbie,
I would like to know if it is a good idea
to install linux on a

PI 133mhz
16megs
3.5 gig

laptop computer, I am wondering if linux will have the pcmcia support or not...thahnk you....

One more thing, i heard that linux is a multitasking operating system, will linux run slower on my PI 133 laptop computer than Windows?

I have an old toshiba satellite laptop (P 100MHz, 48MB RAM, 1.2GB HDD) running slackware. It uses a PCMCIA CD-Rom and PCMCIA ethernet card; no problem there. It runs X-window on aceptable speed (fvwm2 is the wm) and overall is more usable than it ever was with MS Windows on.
So you should consider getting maybe 16MB more of RAM and you'll be absolutly fine. 16MB will still work but the extra memory will give you a major performance improvement when you run X.

 sorry, can't follow what you say here. How does multitasking relate to overall speed?
