I'm trying to install Debian (for the first time) and I get the following message/error once installation begins...
/instmnt/pool/main/a/apt/apt_0.5.4_i386.deb was corrupt
I downloaded the Debian 3.0 rc1 i386 ISO and burned it onto CD using K3b (buring program).
Any ideas?

Corrupt? Did you verify the iso image before burning to cd?
If that file is corrupt, try redownloading again (perhaps from another ftp site).

I downloaded the first from from
mirror.cs.wisc.edu
and second, just right now, from
linux.csua.berkeley.edu
Both give me the same problem...
I tried burning the ISO using
1. k3b on SuSE 9
2. CDWriter on Fedora
3. Roxio Easy CD Creator on Windows 2000
All give me the same problem
:(
ideas? solutions?

Searched Debian's site to see if this is a known problem?
Can you bypass that package for now?

I wish I could answer that. This is my first time installing Debian so I'm not sure...during the installation I don't see any option to bypass any packages...
My other option is to do a "download as you install"
I just need to figure out what boot image I need.

Are there boot images on the installation cd with readme's to explain which to use?

OK, I ended up using the "business card" iso as an install.. that worked out well...
