encrypted web page access probs

using SuSE 9.0

I've been unable to access certain parts of encrypted web sites. No trouble logging in. Just certain areas are will not load. I've tried using Mozilla 1.4 & 1.6, Firebird, Konqueror, Netscape 7.1, and Epiphany.

Now, I have no problems accessing these same sites using Windows XP (IE or Mozilla).

Is this a known problem with Linux or is there some setting I need to turn off or on or change or what?

Sorry for the delay in responding to your question as I was hoping another member might know the solution.

Mine is only a guess.

Could it be you need the openssl packages to be installed?

I'm also running SuSE 9.0 (Pro), so if you post one of those url's, I can try it myself to see if it works as I do have openssl installed.
