I have an SGI O2 which I bought off of ebay a couple months ago (it came with no OS). I recently got Irix off of there too, but I'm having some install trouble. When the system boots I click the "Stop for maintenence" button, as I believe I'm supposed to. I then clicked the Install System Software button, then chose to install from the local CD-Rom. I have the Irix 6.3 disk in the drive, and it at first comes up with a box saying "Finding installation tools," or something like that. After that however, I get the error "Bad device format in $SystemPartition." I don't have much of an idea at all of what to do. I think I may need to format the hdd in the PROM thing, but I'm unaware of how I should do that. If anyone knows of an Irix forum, or what I should do, any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Edit: Just ran "resetenv" and it's now copying the installation tools to disk. I'll keep you posted... If anyone was following this ;)

Now I'm able to get the installation tools copied to the hard drive, but after that my screen goes blank and the power light turns orange. It's normally green when powered on, and orange when booting, as far as I know anyway.

Well it's installed, I think... I used an Irix 6.5 installation tools disc to get it installed and my screen didn't blank out. But when it boots I get a media not loaded error. I'll try to correct this, but as always, any help is much appreciated.

Edit: Here's the exact error if it helps:

Unable to execute pci(0)scsi(0)disk(2)rdisk(0)partition(0)/unix: media not loaded

Autoboot failed.
pci(0)scsi(0)disk(2)rdisk(0)partition(0)/unix: media not loaded.
Hit Enter to continue.
