Hey all.

I was wondering if there was an RPM I could install that had KDE 3.2 final ?

Like I would try to compile it but I am still a linux noob and a rpm would be much easier.

Now if I did find a RPM and it install no problem, would it automatically boot into kde 3.2 or would it still boot into the 3.1 ?

Thanks all

I don't use Mandrake so there probley be a better way to do this using urpmi. But there 3.2 rpm's in the cooker dir. You'll probley want to use urpmi or rpm -Uvh command. That uninstall your previous KDE 3.1 install. Then it should boot up in 3.2.

So what happens if the 3.2 upgrade completely breaks your desktop environment? Will you be able to fix it since you are still a noob?

You could try looking in that rpm/package manager thing like I suggested in your post about the 2.6 kernel, but since KDE 3.2 just came out, they might not have rpms on there yet.

Umm if it does that I have FLuxbox, Blackbox, xc43 (or whatever it is) and lots of other ones. if i can't get to those, I reinstall mandrake ... I have reinstalled it about 10 times now and have only had it for about 2 months

Could you install KDE 3.2 on Mandrake 9.2? I would like to hear from you before embarking on the project?
Thanks
