I have 2 cd-rw's in my new/1st linux box. Im running mandrake 9.2, on a 2.5 gig p4, a gig O' ram, bla bla bla... Anyways, whenever I go to use k3b, it'll only let me burn at 4X, I have a 52X... Can somebody help me make this not suck so bad?

the top speed for your drive writing to cd-rw's is set to 4x, use cd-r's to get the speed

But I bought these nifty little mini cd-rw's, you know, to make me feel like James Bond!!! I guess both me and my cd burner are both lame... :(

Are you using a 2.4 or 2.6 kernel? If 2.4, ide-scsi emulation might be your problem. If 2.6, you might not have set up ATAPI burning correctly.

Or it could be that you have a 4x burner. When you say 52X, do you mean you have a 52X speed burner, or just a 52X reader?

Did I read that right, will upgrading to 2.6 kernel allow me to ditch ide=scsi emulation and use my burner as it was meant to be?
