Is it possible to install a distro on two seperate hdd's?

Sure, what specifically do you wish to do? You can install several distros on one hdd or one distro over several hdd's. You can use RAID to create a large volume that spans disks or just use the space to mount seperate mount-points, e.g. '/' '/var' '/home' '/usr' '/usr/local' etc. You can even install the identical distro to two seperate hdd's and have one version as stable and one as bleeding edge (read: potato / sid). This is linux, man, you can do anything!
