Hi all,

I'm running a 1.8A P4 on a Asus P4B533 motherboard with 1 gig of memory and Slackware 9.1/2.4.22. When I look in the info center in KDE, however, it says that the total physical memory is only 883mb. Where did the other almost 200mb go? When I boot up the machine at POST 1 gig of memory is recognized. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

k....I just did a search and someone suggested using this

mem=1024

and putting in into my lilo.conf Has anyone tried this? Is there another fix (besides compiling the kernel with big memory support), or do I need to be content with 883mb? Thanks again.

I tried sticking this into my lilo.conf....ran lilo....rebooted and it it still showing up as 883mb. Was I right by putting this into the append section? Or should it go somewhere else? Thanks again.

You need bigmem support in your kernel. I think theres a Slack built one on the cd, but you can always use the config file of bare.i and just add it in.
