Ok, I just installed slack and I love it. I installed gnome because my girlfriend won't do linux without it and I reall like emelfm, which requires gtk+ and glib.
When I run either emelfm or gnome-session (or gnome-terminal and others for that matter) I get the error:
-----
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key

Gtk-WARNING **:cannot open display: :0.0
-----
So what do I need to do?
Thanks,
btw slack kicks redhat's ***... hard...

Ok.. I'm an idiot. I just realized I am getting these errors only when I run from root in a xterm when I am logged in as a non-root usr. So why does this happen?

No, you're not an idiot ;)

You should just chmod it to execute as non-root. This happens with other apps when you su'd to root and run them.
