Most of the people know the services I put in the topic, and UD is a cancer research project, which uses your unused CPU power to do medical research. You can find it at http://members.ud.com/ (http://members.ud.com/home.htm). Now my question is: is it also downloadable for linux? seti@home is useless, I'm still looking for what genome@home&folding@home really do, though that Cancer Project Research seems good, but my windows KaZaA blowed up my internet under windows, so I don't have internet anymore with windows and the Cancer Project Research only works under windows.
Is there a not-official - or however you wanna call it - version of it for linux? Or are they working on it?

I know a few months back everyone at Windrivers.com was using this, I think someone made a mention of them working on a linux version. Have you been able to check their main web page for any info?
You'd think those trying to cure cancer would take every option they could ;)

TeamLNO (http://www.teamlno.org) is the website for the distributed computing projects that LNOers participate in. There are links to each of the product's websites where you will find all the info you need to know about each one.

This custom version of knoppix runs folding@home at startup in the background. There are scripts to view/start/stop/and configure it that make things very easy. There is also a script to run the windows version in wine. It has a ton of apps just like knoppix. And you don't need to have a hard drive. It has samba, ssh, and vnc for remote connectivity, to share files, to use electron micorscope to monitor folding.
It also has:
seti@home
prime-net
memtest
cpuburn
lucifer
So its great to burn-in a new box without having to install an OS. It can also be installed via the knxhddinstall script and so it is a quick and easy way to install debian.
In a future release I'm adding scripts to d/l and install F-prot into ramdisk or a persisntent /home. That will let you scan windows partitions for virii wihout having to boot into windows. I've almost got the feature to automatically to save WU's to a hdd or pen drive at intervals in case of power failure, but F@H locks the work folder...

Right-click and choose save target.
With this cd you could make layers of a folding/seti/prime cluster for around $150.

That link is not working :(
Btw, there's a LNO team in the SETI@Home project which it was created some time ago. You can find it here: http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/stats/team/team_11027.html

Right-click and choose save target if you're browser doesn't do it right.
The default user is Arkaine23 for seti. You have to run some scripts to change it.
foldoff (kills folding@home)
cfgseti (starts seti and lets you use your own username) [I think I got a permission wrong in the script. If it asks for a password, press Ctrl+C, then run- sudo cfgseti instead)

Because this thread is nearly two years old.
The question is why has arkaine23 dug up three old threads on this topic and posted the same in each?
I've removed the recent member posts from two of them in order to send them back in history.

I dug around looking for people who had questions about folding@home and seti@home as they pertain to linux. There were only a few posts, so I thought I'd plug my remaster of knoppix in them. That way if anyone searches about folding@homme or seti@home, they'll find my knoppix project and have the option to use it for:
1. install debian and have its all setup for DC clients and burn-in type apps
2. setup a DC diskless cluster using overclockix
3. have preconfigured Linux on CD to take anywhere they go

That is fine and we certainly do appreciate you taking the time and effort to post the solution, but only posting in one thread would suffice as sometimes the members do not notice how old the threads are and start replying to the originator of the thread and usually that members is no longer a member or does not frequent JL as much.
Also posting in the 'How I did it' forum is a good idea of which I notice you have already done.
Thanks
Besides you got serz all confused when the link wouldn't work. :D

Gotcha. Will work on a post in How I did it.
Serz must, like me, have been using opera. right-click, save as will always work no matter what, unless I happen to be replacing the file on that server with a newer version...

The link works for me.
Try right-clicking it, then choose the option to "save as" or "save target". That should work for you, serz.
Samba is not working right in this version. I'm trying to fix it now.
Wait.. I was talking about this link: http://www.teamlno.org

I knew that.
Being that this thread is two years old and I guess the support for teamlno feel off, they must have disbanded the lno team and removed the site.
