ET can't get server list

I'm trying to play ET after just re-installing Linux and now it can't contact the master game server. I can ping the server with my ping command, but it won't work in ET. The console says this:

With the newer updates to ET, you have to change the protocol number so it communicates with the master server properly. I forget where/what to change exactly, but google should be able to help you out...

umm for me it wouldn't load the servers on the old version but I got the patch to go to the new version and everything worked fine. Try it out
