Numbers locked. How to release?

Hi everyone,

I did do a search on this as I know I've seen it asked before but I got nothing!

So, can someone tell me how I can free the numbers pad on the right of my keyboard?

I'm running RH7.2

On most keyboards I've seen there's a "NumLock" key just above the "7" on the number pad that toggles it on or off.

question...

are you in a running X session? ..on the console?
in a terminal window on X?

-- in X sessions, each window can have/require a different state for the numlock pad in some window managers...

-- in console mode, if you have a specialized keyboard, sometimes one will have to remap the numlock key.

What type of keyboard are we talking?
