Hi to all u linux-vise people,

I got a bounch of machines in my network and all of them running Windows except for one running Mandrake 8.1

My internet connection goes through a D-Link DI-804 Router and this works fine with the Windows machines. On the Mandrake machine I can ping the network and I can reach Internet (websites) via direct IP there seems to be a problem with the DNS.

I have set up the IP:s for the gatweway and dns exactly like I would do on my other machines. In "/etc/resolv.conf" is the correct dns so I cant figure out whats wrong?

My friend mention something about UDP 53??
...should my Firewall on the router allow this port or.... ???

Yes port 53 (UDP) is used to contact DNS servers.

You should allow all traffic out that is heading to 53 and allow all traffic from port 53 (UDP).

Is the DNS search order for your windoze machines the mandrake machine first and other sources second?
