Ok, So i've got a Powermac 6500 running, I decided i wanted to put debian on it, so I went out, bought a linksys pci card for it, and put it in the box. Now, the problem is that the box makes the noise that its on, but the light on the front doesnt turn on, and it doesnt proceed to boot.

I tried replacing the new nic with one that I'd known to work, aswell as removing it all together. If not for the latter, I would think it a power issue.

It does make noise like its about to boot, but then kinda 'whiirs' down, and back up again (and down again...etc)...

Anyone have any ideas what it could be, or how to fix it?

Sorry to have wasted your time...After leaving it on for while, without touching it, it booted from a cd, where I then used some utilities to determine the harddrive for some reason isnt being detected.

Thanks for the help you offered :)

Thars OK...didn't waste my time...you got it solved, thats what counts. Check/swap your cables and jumpers on your drive.
