In the U.S. NPR's show "The World" is doing a week long piece on linux. I think it's from 12:00PM-1:00PM local time. I just caught a little bit of it but I'll have to listen to the rest at npr.org. Just to let people know.

Yeah, I heard the first part of it that aired Monday.

They were kind of inaccurate, and they made some broad layman-ish generalizations, but that's to be expected from any mass media organization. (Yes, NPR's mass media, IMO). But hey, it is good press for Linux, so I can't complain too much.

Cool thing about NPR is that just about everything they ever broadcast is archived on their site

NPR is where I first heard the word LINUX, when NPR did this great story on "All Things Considered". I can remember I was listening to my Walkman, having no idea what this would mean to me one day, but I remember hearing that Linux computers had powered the special effects for the movie "Titanic". That was almost six years ago.

You can find a pretty good interview with Linus Torvalds,

and an interview with the author of a book called "Rebel Code" that's a great introduction to Linux and a perfect answer to the question of just what Linux is. I send a link with that interview to people all the time.

In a nonlinux vein, you can find humor by the Firesign Theater, and biting, literate commentaries by Andrei Codrescu (is that he spells it? Not sure.)
