I've been browsing the forums trying to find the post that had already covered this, but I can't find it again. My K-Menu has dissappeared, and I don't know how.

I remember part of the post was like alt f2 to bring up Konsole, then type menu -v or something, I don't remember what it is, but it would be greatly appreciated if somebody could tell me what to type in konsole to bring it back.

The entire bottom bar is gone, and I am new to linux, I had to log into gnome to do anything. I just installed linux yesterday.

The thread is here http://www.justlinux.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=121033

You say you lost the entire bottom bar (the KDE kicker)? If so, open up Konsole (or your terminal of choice) and type kicker. This should re-start it.

Do yourself a favor. Create a text file on your HD & use it to jot down useful commands you find(like "update-menus -v"). I did that when I started out & still refer to it. I add to it whenever I learn something new.

Ohh, that was the thread, no wonder; the title threw me off. Thanks a lot for your help Bam, I think I will do that and make a text file for all my commands. Linux is much different than windows, but already I like it. Thanks again, that fixed my problem.

Ohh, that was the thread, no wonder; the title threw me off. That's one of the reasons our Mods lock down threads with 'non-sense' titles/subjects, and also why many of us find it really annoying when ppl keep posting new problems in their own (or even others!) threads.

Cheers :)
