Gaim giving me !@#$ about GTK+

After days of hard work, I finally got gtk-demo to run, but the Gaim './configure' script still gives me this:

checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed.

Any ideas as to hat could be causing this?

Well, Swaret saved the day again. :o I am running Slackware8.1/current. Turns out I needed 2 more pkgs that gaim is dep on
