Okay..
When I first started using Linux, I was using Mandrake 8.0, but I have since changed to Redhat 7.1 (and hopefully Debian or Caldera in a month or two). When I attempted to install a better nvidia driver for my GeForce 256, I kept on getting a pile of errors, and eventually I could not even get into X. I have not tried installing the nvidia kernel and glx for Redhat, but I was just wondering: when I install from the rpm, should I choose the upgrade option, or the install option for the kernel? I know my vid card is listed as a 'generic GeForce 256', but I have no idea if that means I have the nvidia kernel or not. Please help if any one else has a Redhat 7.1 distro with a Geforce card
