Linux freezes while running XMMS

Hi -
I just installed the flash plugins for Netscape and Mozilla (yes for some reason I have both on here) and now XMMS freezes my system (no mouse movement, no Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work).

I read about how you need to use invoke mozilla by using
esddsp mozilla
because of a bug in the flash plugin, but is there something else I need to do in order to be able to use XMMS?

Also - even with using esddsp, the sound quality through mozilla is horrible, while xmms is perfectly fine. Is there anything I can do about this?

Have you tried different output plugins? In thoery arts should be the correct one to use since you're using kde, but for example I'm using mandrake 8.1 and arts never worked so I'm using oss which won't let me mix sounds but it works.
