X windows and Anaconda Graphical Installer Lockups Fedora Linux

I have just installed the first stable release of the fedora core 1 i386 from CD's. When i was installing i had to use the "linux text" install as the graphical install would just go to a white screen with a cursor and lockup. After installing through linux text I rebooted the machine in runmode 5 so x-windows would start but when it did it just locked up after logging in, it didn't even make it too the desktop. any suggestions of solutions to this problem?

Did you configure X during the text mode install?

I would say with the ATI 9800, you need to download and install the Linux drivers from the ATI site. Plenty of previous threads posted here on ATI video cards and drivers.

Boot into rescue mode, text mode (or whatever) so you at least have a console to work with.
