well.. im pretty new to linux. i used it about a year ago for a short time, but i recently came back to start a web site. got everything up and running, and the web site works, but now my problem is e-mail. i set up postfix, and i can send mail and everything (with kmail), but the main problem lies somewhere else. i set up a forum on my web page, and the only way to get your password is through e-mail. well, for some reason my e-mail does not get delivered to 'aol.com' accounts, and is listed as 'Bulk mail" or 'spam' on almost every other e-mail service. im not interested in recieving mail with the service, just purely sending via the forum registration.
using mandrake 9.2, w/ w/e postfix comes stock. please point me in the right direction, or give me some guidance. any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Does reverse DNS work? I have a fealing that may be why AOL is filtering it out, and yahoo marks it as "bulk". You may want to check out the mail headers on the email.

To check reverse DNS first do a nslookup on you domain name.

For example on www.yahoo.com

Name: yahoo.com
Address: 66.218.71.198

Then check the DNS records on your IP address, and make sure it resolves back to your domain name, In Yahoo's case you would do a 'nslookup 66.218.71.198'..

ns4.yahoo.com internet address = 63.250.206.138
ns5.yahoo.com internet address = 216.109.116.17

As you see it returns back to yahoo.com..

From AOL's website..

http://postmaster.info.aol.com/guidelines/standards.html

AOL's mail servers will reject connections from any IP address that does not have reverse DNS (a PTR record).
