Is there anyway to make a ram drive in linux. I have searched but haven't found anything I was looking for yet.

Thanks

How about something like

http://www.linuxrouter.org/docs.shtml

which I found with a Google for Linux search for 'create ramdisk'.

Look into initrd.

man initrd

Thanks

Hopefully other JL members will be able to post other suggestions or even specific instructions on setting up a ramdisk.

Perhaps if you posted the reason why you want to create a ramdisk in Linux and what it will be used for may help in assisting those that reply.

I want to use it for a temp drive for internet cache or decompressing files.
