I use xchat and I have a specific username which is ops, I join a channel that has bots that verifies IP address and username along with the actual nick.

Xchat and ident works fine under Win32 but with Slackware my username is 1000@example.com

I want to change this to ops@example.com

but I have to edit/configure in.identd, but the man pages doesnt show anything about it. Can anyone help me?

On the Xchat interface in the lower-left corner there's a button with the name "edit" on it. Click on it and edit your info.

Yes on the server list window right? I did click on Edit mode and changed my usernam to devnull but it still says 1000@example.com, I even restarted the program and it gave the same result.

While in th edit mode you will see a check box bottom-center labeled "use global user info". If you check this and fill in the info at the top with your changes, these will be used. Unchecking uses "specific settings" for specific servers that you have previously indicated.
