I know that you can drag windows in kde by pressing the alt key and then clicking anywhere in the window to move it. Is there a way to do something similar in gnome...I want to move some windows without using the title bar.
Thanks

This sounds a little more like something that the window manager would handle, not the desktop environment. It would depend on your WM.

I use Gnome with Enlightenment as the window manger, and I can move a window by pressing 'ALT' and clicking my left mouse button; pressing 'ALT' and clicking my middle mouse button will resize the window; pressing 'ALT' and clicking my right mouse button will bring up the window operations menu. If I center click on my desktop, I get a menu that allows me to select ' Help ' to find out about more key sequences to do other things. I hope this helps.

I use Gnome/Sawfish and I can use the alt window move as well.

I'm using gnome sawfish as well and I can't drag windows using the alt key. What could be causing this problem??

never mind...figured it all out. My default setup uses the meta key (the window key) to do it. I figured out how to change it if I want to alt

I drag in sawfish with just the right mouse button.
Click on top of window, hold button down and drag, no alt key

I know about that method :)
I was having some windows that were bigger were often very large and the title bar was off screen.
