have MS changed their protocol recently ?

I cant connect using amsn or gaim, keeps coming up with an error message about Protocol.

Any ideas ?

They've all been changing protocols ......last I heard, MSN changed everything....and it isn't outa the question that AOL did too. Update your client and see if that fixes it.

Anything that has been successfully talking to 5190 at login.oscar.aol.com in the past, should be ok.

MSN must finally have gotten around to TRYING to do something about the horde of messenger hacks out there.
Give 'em six or seven months to stamp out the bugs they create with their original fix--and all the fixes they have to come up with to fix the fix for the fix that was supposed to fix the fix for the fix to the patch...and the wheels on the bus go round-n-round...
