I was wondering if there was a program for Linux that would allow me to wipe files. (Kind of like a secure delete. Ya know - overwrite with 0's and 1's.) I found one called Wipe, but, it didn't seem to do what I want. Commandline would be good...I'm not looking for anything extravagant.

Is the Wipe that you're talking about GUI? I use a commandline utility called 'wipe' and it is command line based. Here is a link to an fm search for wipe:

Edit: BTW, I got 'wipe' off the Suse ftp. See if it'll work for your distro (if it's rpm based)

Wow. Thank you. That's exactly what I was looking for. I tried to find it as an RPM before, but I couldn't. Thanks a lot.
