I am now using Mandrate 8.0, bought it as a box with CDs inside. Now I see 8.1 downloable for free. These are my question:

1. SHould I download it under window OS, burn a CD and do the installation in my linux machine?

2. Or is it possible to download it in Netscape under Gnome? if so do I have to type in those codes and command in order to activate the downloaded file?

3. Is 8.1 more stable than 8.0? coz the 8.0 now i am using always have problem in KDE and Gnome..

If you download the ISO's of mandrake 8.1 then all you should have to do is use something like xcd-roast and burn them to disc's. Shouldn't matter wether you are in windows or linux.

I have used Mandrake 8.0 and 8.1, and, despite the fact that Mandrake 8.1 has a lot more $hit as part of the default install, it is more stable (stabler? :D ) than Mandrake 8.0. This partly has to do with the KDE upgrade too. Don't forget the new 2.4.xx kernel.

I had Mandrake 8.0 and it worked fine. Purchased 8.1 and attempted numerous ways to install including upgrade of 8.0 and it would not go. No way, no how. Although I am a very inexperienced Newbie I'm sticking with 8.0 until I know more to be able to resolve problems/conflicts. :(

I had worked with Mandrake 8.0 and kicked it out when 8.1 came along.
