nethack problem

I have suse 8.1 and I would like to play nethack, it goes through the video and as soon as It goes to start the game it disapears from my screen. I looked to see if all the source files were coppied and they were, so can anyone tell me what is wrong?

nope, can't tell you a thing

try running 'nethack' from the console and when it disappears you should have some error message on the console that would help us figure it out
