There are a few.. WinLinux comes to mind. I've never tried any of these, so I can't comment on them.

I'm not sure, but I think the newest version of Mandrake can do it also.

Yeah...Mandrake can run (kind of) on a Windows partition. It's not very good though, and doesn't give you the full experience of Linux. But...it's a start.

Silly question...

Why wouldn't you want to partition your hard drive? Quite simple to do and this way you can keep your Win2k data completely separate.

Get Partition Magic. You cannot experience the true power of Linux if it does not run on it's native filesystem. Partition Magic will safely partition and resize your Windows partition for you to make room for Linux. I haven't had any problems with it in all the times that I've used it. Check it out.

I don't disagree with this at all; but if you just want to browse through what a Linux desktop (or Linux experience) looks like, I think ZipSlack (from Slackware) will work. There are others; just make sure you know that it will be a lot slower than a native Linux installation, and there will be a lot you won't be able to do (like manipulating the file system much, or keeping some settings).

I wouldn't be using Linux today, if I hadn't found one of those "nutshell" Linux samples that ran on the MacOS. My computing life wasn't the same after that :). Good luck.

You can always boot from a cd.

I totally agree with that. I've used Partition Magic since version 3 and have never had a problem.

If you are looking for easy, and you are brand spanking new to linux, Mandrake is a good starter distro and install with Lnx4win, it however does make Linux run slower.

When you start the linux press F8 then type in lnx4win that should do the trick.

Good luck with your installation!!! Post back and let us know how you made out.
