Why does it look like this. What should I install to make it look nicer??

I have just completed my installation of gentoo linux. I run the latest gnome and latest mozilla/firebird...

My machine:
Dell Inspiron 500m, 1.4, 256, intel extreme graphics 855GM..

Thanks // Seemer

I was going to say...looks good to me :D

What resolution is the display running at? Too large, too small? I'd bet that it is a physical display problem since the screen shot looks good.

Want to post your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 for us?

Is your complaint that the text in the browser window is too small?

You might want to set the minimum font size under File -> preferences -> appearance ->fonts

Good Luck,

Kind of looks like it's using 800x600 for the display, when it should be using 1024x768 per your config

Check the log file /var/log/XFree86.0.log and look for something like "can not initialize something using something"
(The error is from memory, but it should look something like that)

i can't find that error msg.

But it says that max memory is 832kb... that dosen't sound rigth...

In one section of the log file there is a lot's of modes printed and befor one mode (640x480) it's a "*"... is that the reselution it uses??

You have to excuse my english....

try this: http://corefonts.sourceforge.net
and then set minimum font size to 10 or 11 under the preferences in Firebird. This solution worked for me...

it's working...

It was a bad resolution... i'v fixed it with an 855patch for my video BIOS.
