Can someone please help.
I'm trying to isntall amsn by using an rpm and I get the following error:
error: Failed dependencies:
/usr/bin/wish is needed by amsn-0.81-1
Can someone tell me what this wish thing is and how I get it/install it?
thanks.
PS I'm using REDHAT9
You need to install the "tk" package.

thank you.
Can you tell me where I can get it ?
Is it an rpm and if so is it called tk-rpm or something?
thanks
it will be on one of your install CDs, or you can try searching on rpmfind.net
look for tcltk or tcl

hi,
I've found tcltk-8.3.5-88.src.rpm
would that be suitable?
Is it just a case of installing using
rpm -ivh tcltk-8.3.5-88.src.rpm ?
thanks
src.rpm is for installing it from source code, keep looking for one with an extension of .rpm, not .src.rpm

You could use the syntax for installing a src rpm. IMHO that's better. I gave up redhat so I forgot the syntax, but I think it was something like "rpm --rebuild foo.src.rpm"

thank you everyone for your help.
Much appreciated.
I managed to find tcltk on synaptic and installed it.
That allowed me to install amsn, which is great.
One more question:
is there an easier way to start amsn than going to the folder
/usr/bin and typing ./amsn in the terminal?
thanks again

yes, make a shortcut for it in gnome/kde/whatever environment you are using in the menu or on the desktop.

Thanks.
Presumably making shortcuts is not the same as in Windows. How would one go about making one for amsn?

I have another problem now with amsn:
when I try and log in with my user name and password, it tries to connect but stops after a few seconds.
any idea what is wrong?
