First problem is it is telling me that I need to create /etc/resolv.conf file. I do no know enough to do this. Please explain. Also when I am logged in as user. my modem dials out starts to connect then it gives me a error saying that it has dissconnected unexpectedly.I know this will work because I can dial out as root and it will work.Thanks.

I had the same problem, Two things to check. Make sure the user name and password settings are correct, Double check! Second make sur your dialing properties are correct. What I did was for the prefix was out of hast I put in my dial-up # so kppp would dial 372-1234-372-1234 causing an incorrect dialing number = 372-123-4372 understand? So after I fixed that I looked and I didn't have any username and password settings! Run command kppp that should bring up that program, if there is no install link

The kppp exec must have the set root uid bit.
# ls -l /usr/bin/kppp
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root root 555960 Sep 13 06:38 /usr/bin/kppp*
