Internet optimizer for Linux???

I was asked if i knew a internet optimizer similar to "Turbo Internet" or others that exist to M$ O.S, and i was not able to answer. I really don´t know if one really exists. Does anyone knows one app like that for Linux??

Probably the nearest thing would be some sort of cache. ie - it caches the pages and serves them up locally if the page hasn't changed the next time you look. Something like Squid should do this.

As far as i know these apps compress the headers so they can download faster. I´ve tried one or two at work and found them to be good when browsing, but in what concerns download rates nothing changes. Still i think this could be a good idea to a new project.

Have a look at prozilla, it's meant to speed up downloading.
