Hello,

well, u probably all know, that I got new 7200rpm hdd and controller card ...

well, I was thinking about optimizing hdds ... so did tests (I have 2 7200rpms and 1 5400) ... well, they all are in 16 bit mode (yet) ... first to(that are on MB's controller) gave me 1,93mb/sec and 1.94 mb/sec ... but the new one gave me astounishing(sp?) 28.96mb/sec!!! ...how did it do that ? :) ... how can I optimize my other hdds to do something similar to this ? :)

ahhh ... just made all of them 32-bit and DMA on ... and get 35.56 mb/sec , 28.70 mb/sec , 30.19 mb/sec (this one was 28mb/sec) ... this is way cool : ) why didn't I think of it before ;)

hdparm is an awesome little program, isn't it?

Just for kicks, I tried copying a 500 MB file in both windows and linux..

I had DMA enabled in Windows, and it took about 25 seconds. I also had my hard drive optimized in linux, and it took 13 seconds.. That's almost twice as fast!
