apple macs on a samba file server

hi ive managed to setup a samba file server on redhat that is serving windows machines and macs - the windows machines copy across SUPER fast but the macs absolutely CRAWL! (takes about 2 minutes for a 20mb file) I am trying to convert my boss to go down the linux road but currently he is not impressed as the win2000 server is fast with the macs - is there any settings or something i am missing ?? thanks

If you are using Linux you could use the atalk module. Just look for netatalk on rpmfind.net or something. The funny thing I'm typing this up on my Mac right now. My Linux box is what I'm using for my local server for testing, programming and games. :D
