hi!!!
i'm a newbie on linux platform so don't expect anything of understading the platform. i install linux 9.0 (kernel is something like 2.4.8-20) on a dell latitude c840 laptop. the installation process was relatively easy but the modem was not auto-detected by the installation. the modem is embedded as a pctel 2304wt v.92 mdc. i came to know it is considered as a winmodem and that conexant doesn't offer any driver for the linux platform. i haven't find an rpm for this modem but certainly found a gunzip on http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/pctel-linux/. now my problem is that when i try to run this step:
the 3) ./configure
Options:
--with-hal=hal
Select one of: pct789, cm8738, i8xx, sis, via686a
--with-kernel-includes=/path/to/my/kernel-sources/include
If you don't have your kernel sources at /usr/src/linux, specifiy
your includes
i receive a message that says that it "can't find the modversions.h file; you may need to configure your kernel". i already install my kernel sources but don't know where they reside on the filesystem. could someone help me? i'm desperate to configure my modem!!!!
