I cant get xsetroot to work.
The only time I got it to actually change my background was when I did,
xsetroot -gray
and then I got a little X as my cursor.
Can someone help change my wallpaper?

man xsetroot will explain it.
bitmap
(draw something :), save it as pic)
cat pic (looks cool ;))
xsetroot -bitmap pic
The other commands to try:
xv -root -quit -max -smooth /path/to/the/image
wmsetbg --scale /path/to/the/image
display -window root /path/to/the/image ## ImageMagic
bsetbg -f /path/to/the/image ## comes with Fluxbox
There should be a few more I don't know of.
I tried xsetroot -bitmap filename.jpg
bsetbg filename used to work when I used fluxbox.
I dont have commands to the other examples you gave me.
Now I am using pekwm and Im getting sick of the default background.
Any other ideas?
