Is there anything you need in the new kernel? If not, stick with what you have unless you want to do it for fun. I usually just upgrade my kernel when there's a security flaw, or if the new kernel has a feature I want.

Wasn't there somekind of security flaw in 2.4 kernels before 2.4.10?
