Epson C64 Printer on Suse 9.0

I have been trying to install my daughter's new C64 printer under Suse 9.0. Unfortunately you need the newest Gimp-Print version and it comes only in complex-to-compile source code. Tons of errors happen and I cannot hope to get to the bottom of it.

It is a Christmas present so I hope it does not represent a major project to get it working. Does anyone know of an RPM for the newest version of Gimp Print??

or ... Has anyone done it already ... the compiling into Suse 9?

P.S.
By the way ... from a post a few weeks ago I got my Conqueror browser working in Suse 9 after the installation got corrupted. I went to root and it worked fine. So I created a new user called ian2 ... lo and behold Konqueror worked fine in the new user profile. Then I just moved the best parts of my home directory over to the new one under the new user name . Everything worked fine!

I can't seem to find a proper rpm for the newest gimp-print drivers. If you go through your installation CDs and install all the devel packages, you might have luck with installing it from source. Then you can follow the directions at www.linuxprinting.org. I got my Epson Stylus C82 working with no problem really, but I'm not on Suse. I use Gentoo.

There is an rpm at www.epkowa.co.jp/english/index_e.html If you get it working please post back. Mine wont respond after installing this rpm. I use libranet
