I am new to linux and have fedora on an old hp system. I am running kde 3.1 and I want to use xscreensaver instead of kdes. How do I go about doing this?

This is probably a very silly reply but have you tried just installing xscreensaver and hoping for the best?:)

KDE uses xscreensaver...

I'm almost positive it's alrady installed on Fedora, check with a rpm -qa | grep xscreensaver and it should come back with xscreensaver-4.14-2 which means it's installed.
If not, check the install disks for the package and rpm -ivh xscreensaver-4.14-2.rpm (I believe that's the correct name)
