Here's my problem: I download and un-tar the hpijs 1.5 drivers for my printer and when I try to compile it like it says here: http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/install.php#install this is what appears: "rey@cpe-101-129:~/Matias en Linux/Descargas/hpijs-1.5> ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
/home/rey/Matias: /home/rey/Matias: No such file or directory
configure: WARNING: `missing' script is too old or missing
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
rey@cpe-101-129:~/Matias en Linux/Descargas/hpijs-1.5>"

So I can't continue with the next step to install the drivers. What's wrong?

You're missing the C/C++ compilers. You should install the development package. You can find them on your CD.

Weird, I though I did the complete installation.

Uhmmmm... I don't want to sound like an idiot but... How do I install the development Package???? Because if I put in the CD when I'm in Linux nothing happens and if I put it when the PC starts up it gives me the choice of installing Linux again...

Depends on your distribution. An alternative would be to find a binary package of the drivers you're installing and just use your package manager to install it. What distribution are you using? Maybe someone who has the same distro can help you out.

If you are using RedHat you should be able to put the cd in and then open it via Add/Remove Programs in your menu bar.

If that doesnt work put your Redhat disc 1 in and at a terminal type in redhat-config-packages. Then just install the C/C++ compilers by selecting them and pressing next.

If memory serves me right that should work.

Go to YAST2 (the SuSE configuration program), select the install packages program, and then select what you want to install... in this case GCC (though You'll probably need some other development libraries).

GOOD FOR YOU! Have you downloaded the demo of Crossover plugin? It's software that allows you to install windows browser plugins (flash, quicktime, windows media player) in linux. It would probably be a good idea to get it if you're going full over to linux. Also... how easy was it to setup the internet connection? My linux computer doesn't have an internet connection :( , so I'm sort of curious.
