I just installed Mandrake Linux 9.0 On one of my older computers, and now it wont let me log on as a user, it will ONLY let me log in as root, so i log in as root, use userdrake to make a user, saved, log out, wont let me log in as the user i just made.... verifyed again making sure the password was correct.... still wont work....
any reason?
Have you set a password for this user?

Check the logfiles I guess. Maybe the home directory doesn't exist, or has the wrong permissions?

when you say you can't log in, do you mean that you just get dumped back at the login screen?
i've just set up a machine and, for various reasons, managed to completely **** up the creation of a user account...
what i ended up having to do was copy all the files (including the hidden ones) from an existing account (which just happened to be root..), reset permissions accordingly, and voila! all was ok..
