Not sure, but I think only Kazaa Lite works under Wine.

Haha... I never thought about that before. :)

It's not like the Winblows spyware will affect your GNU/Linux box anyway.

and the same number of people use both, because it's the same network

Doesn't the original have more pop-ups and other annoyances and less useful features? Good point though.

The K-lite version has no spyware\banner ads\adware crap. [though as stated b4 the spyware wouldnt work on linux :D]

plus k-lite has extra features like an unlimited bitrate for mp3s [on the regular kazaa you can only d\l mp3s with a br less than 128]
as well, a few other programs come with k-lite like avi preview [shows you avis that are .DAT's] and the Sig2dat prog.

FYI, the k-lite tried to get shut down by sharman, the owners of kazaa for copyright infringment, [oh the irony !]
but the prog still works fine

[i dunno where to get the new versions at, but you can get the older ones, which work fine @ www.oldversion.com]

Sharman [the owners of kazaa] closed down a few of the sites with kazaa lite on it....K-lite development hasnt stopped though.

kazaa and kazaa lite are not natively for linux. Thats' where WINE comes in.
Also, there's a plugin for giFT which allows you to connect to the fastrack network.

What do I look like... A n00b!? I know about all those things... WINE, and I have a pretty nifty OpenFT:Gnutella:FastTrack setup on my giFT, It's just that it's sad to see such a kickass project die. But hm... I'll have to look into that news thing. I haven't clicked it yet. I will... right after I click post.

hah... why don't tey just move the project over to palistine? Find some programmers that live over there... send them a couple of servers and let them continue the projct? err... It's not like another K++ won't come out in the next couple of weeks anyways... I'm willing to bet $1,000 (That's for the windows users... we Linuxers have P2P galore ;) ).

hey look! my 200th post.
